In 2019, the World Health Assembly established World Patient Safety Day which is observed annually on September 17. Promotion of global action on patient safety is one of the primpary goals of the day. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), maternal and newborn care is the theme of this year's World Patient Safety Day.
