Due to the fact that Medvisit Global provides international surrogacy and egg donation services, most of our intended parents come from different continents of the world that makes it essential for us to give safety tips when it comes to flying with a baby after an infant is born.
* Book a direct flight if possible
It is important to consider that you should keep the number of connecting flights to a minimum as taking off and landing are the most sensitive parts of flight in terms of blood pressure and ears. Also, less time a baby spends in transit, it is less possible to face mid-flight tantrum. In case there is no option of a direct flight, try to have a longer layover (at least 2 hours) in order not to run around with a baby, have time to change a diaper and get some rest.
*Visit the airport bathroom before you depart
Obviously, it is best for you to board the plane with a dry diaper baby. Therefore, before heading down the jetway, make sure to check your baby's diaper one last time.
* Book a separate seat for your child
Here’s what the Federal Aviation Administration says on their website, “Did you know that the safest place for your child on an airplane is in a government-approved child safety restraint system (CRS) or device, not on your lap? Your arms aren’t capable of holding your child securely, especially during unexpected turbulence.” They continue, “The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) strongly urges you to secure your child in a CRS or device for the duration of your flight. It’s the smart and right thing to do so that everyone in your family arrives safely at your destination.”
* Keep your baby buckled
In case of unexpected turbulence, it is important to make sure that the baby's seat belt is fastened firmly.
* Wear baby when going through security
Having two hands free makes things much easier, especially when collecting your belongings after passing through the checkpoint.
* Get a baby car seat
After you leave the airport, you might need to take a shuttle bus or a taxi to get home. Having your baby in a baby seat guarantees safety while driving.
