Changing diapers is the most overwhelming chores for parents. Moms and dads cannot wait to see their little one using a potty seat. Here is how to tell when your toddler is ready to tackle the toilet. 

You should look for the signs indicating that your child is ready to be potty trained:

• Bowel movements are predictable: if you notice that a child urinates or defecates regularly, a regular rhythm will help you predict when to use the potty.
• There are fewer wet diapers to change: Until the age of approxmiately 20 months, toddlers pee so often that expecting them to control their bladders is almost unrealistic. However, a kid who stays dry for a couple of hours at a stretch — and occasionally awakens without wetness — might be ready to forget about diapers. 
• You child uses words or non-verbal signals:  Some children announce when a bowel movement is about to take place. Others communicate through body language, for example, by retreating to a corner or producing a preemptive grunt.
• A child does not welcome dirty diapers any more: noticing that your toddler dislikes his/her stinky diapers as much as you do, might be a sign to pull out a potty seat. 

Tips to start potty training once your toddler is ready:

• Pick easy clothing: let your child wear clothes that are easier to unbutton or pull down. 
• Choose the potty wisely:  figure out what’s best for your little one. If you get a seat that attaches to the toilet, find a stable fit — a shaky seat can spook a child back into diapers.
• Be patient: try not to force your children anything if they resist. 

Some toddlers forget about diapers and pick up potty training almost immediately and for some, it takes a while.
